A flu can be a cold while a cold may not be flu. This is because a cold only affects the upper respiratory system. When a cold is accompanied by other symptoms like headache or aches, it can then be described as a flu.
In this blog entry, I will talk about flu since it is very common for a cold to develop/progress to flu. What Conventional Medicine prescribe:
- Neo-synephrine or Afrin (taken for 3 days). Those with history of heart or cardiac problems are not to take these.
- Saline Nasal Spray – prevents nasal obstruction
- Dextromethorphan – if a cough is present. However, this is not supposed to be taken by children under 5 years of age, nor by those with asthma.
Other common prescription drugs may be recommended. None are without side-effects.
I also notice that a large percentage of doctors (in Singapore) do not look into patients’ eyes (iris) anymore, like they used to shine my eyes with a torch! Also sometimes they do not bother to take blood pressure of those under 50. Anyone has input why this is so?
Problems with Cold/Flu Prescription Medicines
Part of the problem which makes prescription medicine against the common cold and the seasonal cold, is that the cold viruses are ever-evolving. By the time an anti-cold anti-viral medicine or vaccine is ready for the public, cold viruses often would have mutated to a different strain. When this happens, it’s like the padlock have changed and it cannot be opened by the key (your cold medicine or vaccine).
Currently now, the most promoted, the most suggested and the most recommended prescription drugs for the flu is TAMIFLU (drug manufactured by Roche Holdings) and RELENZA (BIOTA’s drugs marketed by Glaxo-Smith-Kline). Tamiflu is a capsule awhile Relenza is a anti-viral powdered nasal used in conjunction with GSK’s inhaler-like nasal device (“breathed-in powdered medicine”).
I am still waiting for the graph that compares deaths from Influenza to deaths from Cancer! lol
If you have NOT caught on to WHAT’s robbing our health and our freedom, these are just a few things done FOR US so far to curb the Farmegeddon Epidemic (from Bird Flu to Swine Flu):
– prescription drugs continue to be peddled distributed
– more helplines set up (which may means spending more citizens’ income tax)
– more schools closing for longer (our child’s education maybe adversely affected)
– more public events banned (our entertainment may be affected too lol )
– TV news and commercials continue to condition us that medicines/vaccines are without risks (or with minimum risks)
– penalties (monetary or not) are pushed to those who refuse the H1N1 Swine Flu vaccination (only certain states in the USA allows these penalties)
I can almost hear a sigh of relief that airline companies are not too badly affected (no restriction on travel) and people can still fly back and forth!
