I thought of several things in the world that researchers in disease prevention may possibly use (in their research work):

  • Animal cells and their flu bugs and what-nots, this includes skin, fur, horns, hooves, beaks, fatty acids, etc
  • Human cells, human blood, saliva, human flu bugs, aborted fetus and what-nots
  • Chemicals (liquid and gas) and plastics, etc
  • Plant, herb and vegetable cells (live nutrients)
  • Phototherapy (to mimic sunlight, etc) and
  • Radiation (mammogram, chemotherapy, microwave ovens?)
  • Soil and soil bacteria
  • Artificial sugars n nitrates

[ If you can think of anymore, please comment - thanks!!  ]

I don’t know much other than the fact that “simple  and natural foods” are beneficial ,so I am gonna blog about our nutrients in foods, used by researchers for disease prevention.

Vitamin A (from apples and carrots), when extracted into vitamin supplement format may be toxic in huge amounts. But this vitamin A (beta-carotene) is totally harmless when you eat many apples and carrots in their whole forms.  At the most you just look more ORANGE or RED!  That is to say, you can not suffer from any adverse reactions (stomach aches, nausea, fever, etc) from eating a lot of apples or carrots (or both) but you may suffer from over-dosing on vitamin A supplements – vitamin A poisoning!

I am not good in chemistry (have never been taught the subject – I chose business accounting over physics and chemistry just to please my parents!)  But a food biotechnologist recently told me that the extracted sucrose does not function quite the same way anymore as natural sucrose (also found in fruits).  It has become a new sugar all by itself “artificial sugar” due to “chemical extraction processes”.

While this cannot be helped (changing of substances of natural foods when they are chemically extracted and added to other foods), it makes sense to eat some fruits and vege in their whole form – and that is, to eat them with their fibre (does not apply to all foods, the “skin” of Aloe Vera for example has toxic sap; you wouldn’t want it anyway because it tastes bitter!  Aloe Vera is bust eating sliced than juiced because after juicing, it just appears like your running nose mucus!  Looks yucky!  lol  )

As such more “disease research” usually means more pharmaceutical companies paying scientists to extract substances from foods to research. Good for the scientists who earn more but that also means more prescription drugs! (What makes these drugs especially “enticing” is that you can’t get it over-the-counter.  One reason why drugs are popular because you have to see a doctor first before you can get drugs! makes you feel so VIP!   lol  )

And when a few drugs have several other side-effects, you need more drugs to tackle those side-effects!  (This is partially why drug after drug for cancer and other diseases, year in year out, has NEVER quite cured cancer.)

If drugs are successful at curing diseases, there’s no need for radiation-rich chemotherapy is there?  Some may argue that prescription drugs prolong life.  It is a little like saying, chemicals prolong life!

What is ABSOLUTELY oxymoron about “disease research” (in my opinion) is that once certain substances are extracted for research, they don’t always work the same way, either alone or with other substances.  If so, why do we continue  “disease research”?

Hi Barefooted! No, I don’t. I do not donate to ANY CHARITY for disease research anymore. It’s ridiculous to donate when the medicine-makers themselves have lotsa money to develop and research. prescription drugs Look up Forbes, and you will find at last 3 in top richest corporations in the whole world.
