Have you ever seen socialising as a form of self-promotion? When you are socialising online and offline, you reveal what you like, what your work involves, how’s your family like, the number of siblings/kids you have, perhaps even where you live. In other words, you are marketing yourself.
I present to you ’23 Social Marketing Tools (Twitter) you may Love!’
1. Twitter loves to make things simple. So simple, that Twitter allows only text messages to be sent to your followers. This simplicty can be changed by using Power Twitter. Power Twitter is about the only tool (a Firefox plugin) that helps you to embed say Youtube videos and Flickr photos into your twits (messages). Shortened URLs like tinyurl.com/blahblah are unwound (so you know where they link to as well as web page titles, before you even click on them). (Power Twitter is usable with the Firefox internet browser!)
2. Now you can beat/cheat Twitter’s default 140 characters! Twitzer is a Firefox extension that lets you post text longer than 140 characters on Twitter!
3. TweetBeep acts like Google Alerts for Twitter! Place a keyword or website (can be your own blog URL) and you get emails to see who tweeted those keyword or blog URL!
4. StrawPollNow allows you to increase interactivity with your fellow-twitterers create polls in Twitter.
5. Now twittering don’t have to be boring! Twitterkeys is a javascript bookmarklet developed for (MSIE and Firebox internet browsers) to provide you with a floating window with all the funny symbols you can use in Twitter. Twitterkeys includes Emoticons like warning/religious symbols and a whole load of colorful characters.
6. Hahlo.com is a mobile client for iPhone which means you can post your messages and announcements to Twitter using your iPhone.
7. Easily control spam in Twitter. First head to http://www.Twitter.com/spam When you do have spam, send a message like @Spam @spammersname1 @spammersname2 And Twitter will take care of the rest. (Alternatively, you can block spammer from the spammer’s profile, under ACTIONS >> BLOCK SPAM )
8. Twitterlights aren’t Christmas lights but it allows you to twitter quotes, internet snippets etc with a “HIGHLIGHT”.
9. I have not explored much of TwitterPoster yet but it looks like you are able to see who else are twittering LIVE at one glance.
10 & 11. Get informed when someone stops following you on Twitter.
Qwitter emails you whenever someone un-follows you. It happens sometimes but nothing personal.

23. BraveNewCode has a wordpress plugin that will send a short announcement to your Twitter everytime you publish a blog entry.
While not exactly a tool, this is where new Twitterers will submit their Twitter Profiles according to their occupation. I absolutely love Justtweetit.com ! A whole lot of stuff you can do on here – get Twitter Graphics and other Twitter tools for those using Linux and Mac.
I personally find Twitter Tools 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 23 to be most useful.
